Plan B's

Good evening!

I've already told you how I'm going to get to as auditor. Now I'm going to tell you what I have planned, if the original plan doesn't go as i planned. I'm thinking of a couple of other career paths for making the journey.

Finance manager  is one of my backup plans. I would want to try to go a medium-large size company because I would like to gather experience and process knowledge first from medium-sized companies. Maybe later try again get auditor workplace or get challenges from a bigger sized companies. I would first like to first contact the financial administration of the company and through this I will gather the understanding of the company's practices. After understanding the practices, I would like to try to go further in the company's hierarchy.

My second backup plan would be the chief accountant's place. In this case, it would not be a disadvantage for the size of the company to be able to collect enough experience with any previous goals as a primary accounting officer. The head of the bookkeeper would be a satisfactory job, but I would consider it more interdependent towards other jobs.

However, if the sector does not take me in or  I feel like I'm not in the right industry. There is also a backup plan for the exchange of industry. If so, I would try to go K-Merchant School. In K-Merchant school I would try to first study the K-Group's habits. Through the school I would not want to be a franchise entrepreneur. My plan is to provide Kesko with internal work with a customer service trainer or a shop designer.

Now I have told about my big plans for my career. Hope you enjoyed it and hopefully this inspired thoughts to go towards dreams. I will continue to implement my career plan in school and work. Let's see where I have reached in ten years.

Career plan from a stage to stage

Good afternoon!

I have so far told my goals for career and schedule. Now I'm going to tell the steps of my plan. Part of the steps I have already done, but I will tell the whole plan from the beginning. The first step of my plan is graduate to Bachelor of Business Administration. I will also have authorization to work as an auditor. This step is done in 2018's autumn. I calculated that this takes time and resources very much. It takes a lot of time, when normally studies are 210 credit points, I will have about 270 credits. I wanted the graduate years earlier than initially planned. I am already completed part of the basic studies in Vaasa. I was prepared for a psychologically difficult study years because I want to work at the same time. Reason why i don't just focus to studies is that I want to get a working experience.

Next, I wonder what to do with a internship. I could have recognized internship with my previous work experience. I came to other thoughts when I found out that the financial administration sector was not hiring easily without work experience. I was ready to jump to the new area and i started looking for a internship place. I decided to look for a place where the auditor is working. Place where I would get a lot of insight into various financial management tasks. In my mind, I thought the accounting firm might be appropriate. I also found a good sized accounting firm from Kauhava. I went to the interview and got this internship- contract. One goal achieved. I also got a work contract after internship. This means that i get work experience for the future.

After graduation, I will still get more experience in the accounting office until my contract ends or if I feel that I have time to go ahead. I would first like to apply for audit firms as an audit assistant and gather the necessary years of experience to the auditing exam. As an audit assistant, it will be five years before you can try the official auditing exam. I'm going to go through audition testing, but only 30% of the exam is passed through. I'm going to get to experience difficult tasks and train myself so that I can succeed. When i have past the official auditing exam, i can work as an auditor.




Moreover, after completing my graduation, I may try to get direct access to Masters Studies. Master studies can be obtained directly from the accounting studies. To get straight to Master's degree without a normal application process, there are a couple of requirements. The degree studies must have an average of at least 4, a thesis number should be 4-5 and be able to write a good motivation letter. I have now studies average is over 4. I'm trying to keep it that way. We are working with a thesis right now and my hopes are high with it.

In addition, I'm going to create a variety of contacts along the way.  I will create contacts in working life, in school and in various education events. Also I create a profile to LinkedIn to get potential contacts created.  In LinkedIn I can see also potentially interesting jobs. I will actively participate in various discussions in social media. However not too actively that I do not give the wrong picture of myself. I try to create a good image for myself and make people remember me.

However, now I have told you now the whole career plan. I've also developed a couple of backup plans if something goes wrong. My back up plans are not so detailed, but I can act with them if I have need to use them. I will tell you more about these tomorrow.

The timetable for achieving the goal

Yesterday I told you that how I decided to dream and aim to be an auditor. Now I briefly and concisely discuss the schedule of my career plan. Tomorrow I will give you a closer look at what plans and points can be found on my career plan.

First, to collect basic work experience for 2-3 years. In addition to work experience, I have been wondering to continue my Bachelor's degree to a Master's degree. The next step is to try to be an audit assistant for 5 years. I'm going to pass the official auditor exam on the first try. I have, however, been thinking that if I don't pass on the first try my dreams won't crash. I will pass it on the second or third try.  If everything goes as I have planned, I'm aiming for my dream about in ten years. I will aim for a conscious path to my goal but I will not bend if there are any adversity.

About my dream of working as auditor and how I figured it out

From beginning I tell about my dream. My dream is someday be an auditor in big and worldwide company as PWC or KMPG. Lets start journey from where I get an idea to think being auditor someday. I have for several years been thinking about what I should be when I grow up. I have thinking of options for different professions to others.  I started dreaming to be a veterinarian or a dolphin trainer as a child. These professions stumbled because of  allergies. In high school I was not sure what i want to do, so I went to high school. In high school i didn't still get a idea what I want to do. Eventually, I decided try to go to University of Applied Sciences and Business Economics Degree. The reason for my decision was that business economics is a multifaceted area.

Finally, after graduation from high school, I get into Vaasa University of Applied Sciences and opted for the marketing orientation. However, everything did not go as it would have been in life. Eventually, I decided to try my luck if I could get into Seinäjoki for evening studies to calm the situation. Somehow I got a place from Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences. I started thinking about doing the marketing degree until the end. However, there were some interesting alternatives in training program. I read that there is able to complete the audit- program. I think about the idea for a moment in my mind. In the end I thought that I did not like the marketing. I was more and more interesting about auditing. My interest was growing even more when I studied the job description and the job opportunities through the degree.

My journey towards my dream in 2017 spring got little bit a boost. That was a time when I found similar teammates from school with similar dreams. We all had the same goal. Someday we all want to be auditors. My goal to workplace would be PWC or KMPG. Another dreamplan B would be to be a financial manager in a medium sized company. I have started my journey to be an auditor, and in  that way i'm going to be!
